Health and Social Care
Curriculum Intent and Vision
Our inclusive curriculum is one of ‘success for all through hard work and harmony’, promoting the values of pride, persistence, patience, preparation, and progress.
The health and social care department offers courses to prepare students with the necessary knowledge and confidence to deal with life’s challenges. It raises awareness of the current issues faced by the wide range of health and social care organisations. It also provides the students with an insight into the careers available in the health and social care sector in order to support them in their future. This knowledge should be gained from both vocational experience in the community and ‘real life’ case studies used in the classroom. The health and social care courses in both key stage 4 and 5 are accessible to all students and through careful planning and assessments, teaching is adapted to meet individual needs. There are many progression opportunities for students. For example, in Level 2, they study human life stages and in Level 3 they deepen this knowledge by researching child psychologists and the factors that affect development. Detailed feedback is the key to ensuring that all students are provided with the opportunity to improve their work and meet their target grades.
We strongly uphold “success for all through hard work and harmony”.
